Greek
Social Forum's activists demontrated against war during the army
march on the National Independence day.
Dominant was an intense antiwar climate in Greece
even on the very day of National Independence during the
traditional army march.

The Greek Social Forum intervened in the
army march in the center of Athens shouting antiwar mottos,
while at the time the army vehicles of war were parading they
broke into «no Greek engagement in the war do away with
American military bases and NATO.
The Greek activists poured red
color on the army vehicles parading in front of them. When the
police realized that a large group of leftists and activists was
about to proceed in an antiwar protest and facing the danger of
the army feast getting ruined moved instantly in an effort to
isolate the rioters.
Despite all
this, they did not manage to
drown mottos like
No soldier in the Persian Gulf We are not
fighting for oil,
Bush is a butcher Get out of
Baghdad,
The
peoples are fighting and are going to win They will stop this
war.

The move ended with an antiwar demonstration in the streets
of Athens, under the strict surveillance of the police forces.
Similar protests were organized today in other big cities of
Greece, like Piraeus, Salonica, and Katerini. The Greek antiwar
movement, consisting of many hundreds of thousands, is using all
its strength in daily acts to stop the disaster of war, from day
one of the American invasion in Iraq. Further action is being
organized in the days to come.
