What is GSF - Media sector
|
WHY THE FORUM OF MEDIA WORKERS WAS CREATED
The Social Forum of
Media Workers was established with the aim of creating a
framework for open dialogue, free exchange of experiences
and interlinking for effective action by all workers in the
media sector opposed to neoliberalism, the brutality caused
by the free trade policies, the American war industry and
racism.
Open, pluralistic and seeking
to strengthen interrelations the SFMW aims to express the
dissent, the protests, the opposition of the workers in the
media sector who have felt the brunt of the aggressive
policies of their employers whose main goal is the doing
away with labour rights and consequently the very core of
information.
The SFMW does not aspire to
replace or transform into a union movement. It hopes however
to unite the hard-hit serfs of the media sector and open
debates on all the pressing issues concerning them, to fight
against the unaccountability of their employers, to defend
press freedom and the right of the public to information.
The SFMW will speak out about the crucial issues that
workers in the media have to handle such as war, terrorism,
human rights and suggest solutions for the problems arising
in each particular circumstance.
All workers in the media
sector whether they belong to an organization or not - who
oppose neoliberalism and war make up the mosaic of the SFMW
which participates actively within the Greek Social Forum.
